Gambling Disorder Trainer Certification (CGT)
The following is an outline of the requirements for certification as a Gambling Disorder Trainer (CGT):
This certification is designed to inform both consumers of gambling disorder training and organizations that fund and offer training. This certification supports the competence of trainers to provide current, evidence-based knowledge and skills to address clinical practice in the field of problem and disordered gambling.
To obtain the IGCCB Certified Gambling Disorder Trainer (CGT) credential candidates must meet the following requirements:
For individuals who are IGCCB Board Approved Clinical Consultants (BACC):
Training
30 hours (CGT) of IGCCB-approved gambling-specific training
Experience
6-8 hours* of Board approved clinical gambling-specific training conducted in the past 3 years.
*Hours requirements differs based on focus of training topic
OR
8 hours of brief trainings in the past 2 years that cover at least 8 ICGC core clinical topics (agenda, objectives, powerpoints must be submitted).
Payment
Payment of $150 via credit card
For individuals who are NOT IGCCB BACC’s:
Education
Advanced Degree degree or equivalent license or certification in a recognized behavioral health field (i.e. psychology, addictions, clinical social work)
Training
30 hours (CGT) of IGCCB-approved gambling-specific training
Experience
6-8 hours* of Board approved clinical gambling-specific training conducted in the past 3 years.
*Hours requirements differs based on focus of training topic

Education & Training:
A minimum of 30 hours of IGCCB-approved gambling specific training or education must be completed with appropriate supporting documentation as defined by the IGCCB. An Advanced degree or equivalent (as assessed by the IGCCB) in a behavioral health field (e.g., license or certificate in psychology, chemical dependency, counseling, social work, peer counseling, etc.) to meet the behavioral education requirement for certification.
Trainer Experience Criteria:
Minimum guidelines for approved training conducted should include at least one 6-8 hour clinical gambling-specific training in the past 3 years. Alternatively, 8 hours of brief trainings in the past 2 years that cover at least 8 ICGC core clinical topics core clinical topics may be submitted for approval. Submissions must contain training agenda, objectives, and presentation slides.
